基研ワークショップ「深層学習と物理」Deep Learning and Physics 2019
日時2019/10/31 —2019/11/02
場所 基礎物理学研究所 湯川記念館 パナソニック国際交流ホール

開催趣旨
The deep learning is the heart of the progress in research of artificial
intelligence in recent years, and various architecture of deep neural
networks and learning algorithms were invented for various purposes in
machine learning.
In the architecture of neural networks, one finds similarity to physical
systems; spin systems are basis of Boltzmann machines and Hopfield model,
for example. At the basis of the machine learning there exists physical
ideas, thus physics is intrinsically intimate with machine learning.
The conference ”Deep learning and physics 2019” puts an occasion for
researchers in physics and machine learning to get together, and provides an
environment for them to inter-communicate with each other, for novel
directions of this emergent and promising arena for physics and machine
learning.
The workshop topic includes:
-Physical understanding of machine learning.
In particular, relations to dynamical systems, discrete geometries,
continuum physics, quantum field theories.
-Machine learning applied to physical problems.
In particular, particle physics, lattice QFT, hadron physics, condensed
matter physics, material physics, string theory.
