1-day workshop “The Quantum Frontier of Machine Learning”
———————–
We are delighted to announce the 1-day workshop “The Quantum Frontier of
Machine Learning”. The workshop will be held on March 11, at the Lecture
Hall of Kavli IPMU. A hybrid format is planned, allowing both in-person and
remote participation.
Deep learning shows significant potential in industry and science, though a
complete theoretical understanding of large artificial networks remains an
ongoing challenge. Tools from theoretical physics, such as quantum field
theory and statistical mechanics, are increasingly viewed as valuable for
bridging theory and practice. The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics highlighted
the influence of theoretical physics on early AI development. A
mini-workshop aims to connect ideas from physics with modern deep networks,
fostering collaboration between machine learning and high-energy theory
researchers. Talks will cater to a general physics audience, followed by
discussions to explore connections and deepen insights.
